In May 2020, MTX were awarded the contract to provide Springwood Primary School with a new volumetric classroom extension.
The Requirements
Springwood Primary School based in Irlam Greater Manchester, provides specialist education for children aged 2-11 who have complex or challenging needs.
Salford City Council recognised the requirement for additional facilities to this site to increase the capacity and allow for more children to attend the school.
Main Considerations
Together with the client team and design team, MTX decided on a single storey solution to provide a further 5 classrooms, 2 quiet rooms, soft play area, group room, offices and toilets.
20 volumetric units were delivered and installed on site to encompass all of the above, achieving an extra 484m² of school accommodation.
In line with client requirements, the scheme has been finished to match the appearance of the existing school environment. Internally, the scheme has been decorated with calming blue colours and externally the building is adorned with a striking sapphire blue non-combustible Isoclad F Stop finish.
